Chinese Girls

Many Chinese girls like comfort food (especially KFC)

The idea of indulging in comfort food after a breakup isn’t exclusive to women in the West; Chinese girls often go through the same thing. Just ask Tan Shen, a 26-year-old newly single lady from Chengdu, China.

Fast food restaurants in Shanghai, China

After getting dumped by her boyfriend, Shen had a craving for some comfort food – chicken wings specifically – so she headed over to the nearest KFC, where she wound up nursing her broken heart for an entire week. Although she didn’t plan to stay at the fast-food restaurant for so long, she felt that she couldn’t go back to her apartment, which was filled with memories of her relationship.

We’ve heard of taking some time to think after the end of a romance, but a week in KFC is an unusual measure. Hopefully a week of chicken did the trick. She ended up leaving after the local media showed up.

Although the story of Tan Shen might seem heartbreaking, it just goes to show that Chinese girls, despite their air of mystery and appeal, are just like anyone else; they can be shattered by a breakup.

Take some time to think about why you’ve joined an online dating site. Have you just gotten over a relationship and are looking for a new love? If so, keep in mind that the ladies you’re interested in might be seeking the very same thing!

Giving gifts to Chinese girls

If you have been dating Chinese girls for any period of time, you might have picked up on the notion that gift-giving is a pretty big deal in the Chinese culture, and it’s a little bit different than the way things are done in the West.

Gifts

In the West, it is often the thought that counts when giving a gift and not the actual value of the present itself. In many cases in China, however, the value does come into play. This can be challenging for many guys, but don’t let this scare you away from dating Chinese women or buying them gifts. The truth is that for most modern women, the thought really does count!

Gifts can be categorized into two groups: those for special occasions and those that can be given at any time. Chinese girls love to receive gifts, especially those that come as a surprise. Surprises mean that you have been thinking about them. Things like scarves and flowers are great surprise gifts.

If you really want to make an impression, go for the gold, and that could mean literally. However, the good news is that you don’t have to invest in expensive jewelry to impress her if it’s out of your budget. Many American products such as perfume, cosmetics and clothing are incredibly expensive in China, so if you send her some small items that don’t seem like such a big deal in the U.S., she might be completed wowed.

Asian vs. Oriental: Chinese girls want guys to know the difference

Did you know that there is a difference between “Asian” and “oriental” when it comes to describing Chinese girls?

Oriental building

For centuries, Europeans have used the word “oriental” when referring to anything or anyone from the lands to the east of Europe, primarily Southeast Asia. In recent times, however, the term “oriental” has become quite controversial. Today, it has become more politically correct to refer to people from this region as “Asian”, while “oriental” has become almost derogatory.

Let’s take a closer look…

If you consider etymology, the word “orient” means “to the east” or “the land of the rising sun.” It has a mysterious air to it. As the usage of the word progressed and time went on, it became a loaded word with many bad connotations and is now considered very Eurocentric. However, just because someone wants to be politically correct doesn’t mean they can’t use the word “oriental” as long as they use the term carefully.

A good rule of thumb is to refer to people from the area as Asian and things like rugs and carpets as oriental. Keeping this in mind could prevent you from possibly offending someone.

This little tidbit of knowledge should help your encounters with Chinese girls be a little more comfortable. You won’t have to worry about the correct nomenclature, so you’ll be able to spend more time enjoying the experience. Online dating, after all, is nerve-wracking enough as it is!

Chinese girls at the Red Leaf Festival at Fragrant Hill

Part of the fun of dating Chinese girls online is that when the romance works, you often end up with a good reason to visit China.  If you are headed to China this October, you might want to check out the Red Leaf Festival at Fragrant Hill.

The festival is a grand celebration that takes place in Beijing from October 15th through the 31st.  Many people flock to this region during this time of year to enjoy the bright red autumnal leaves.

Red leaves

Fragrant Hill is actually one of the most famous places in China to see red leaves, and thousands of people attend the festival each year.  If you plan to attend, it might be a good idea to check it out on a weekday when the locals are working to avoid big crowds.

If you want to get a really good glimpse of the red leaves, there are a couple of good places in the park.  Tranquility Green Lake, which is about a five-minute walk from the east gate, is a lovely spot and is particularly romantic for Chinese girls.  Another good spot can be found at the Fragrant Hills Temple, which is situated on the south hill near Shuangqing Villa.

A great way to spend the day enjoying the red leaves is to get there early and enjoy other local sights and eateries nearby.  You should also keep in mind that because so many people go to Fragrant Hills to see the red leaves, public transportation is the best way to get there.
