Spotting red flags when dating Asian singles online

Meeting and dating Asian singles online is often just as thrilling and romantic as meeting and dating in real life, but there are some things you should be wary of in the age of the Internet.

Red flags - warning

Lots of people have found love online: although it might seem like there are a lot of Asian singles on the Internet, it is possible to meet someone you really connect with.  However, there are always a few bad seeds out there, which is why we’ve put together this list of red flags to watch for as you continue to date online:

  • She’s too eager to meet in person.  Online dating can be taken slowly, so if someone is pressuring you to meet in person before you are ready, it can be a red flag.  There is no rush, so take your time.  After you’ve been corresponding for a while, feel free to try and meet face-to-face.
  • There’s no bio in the profile.  The bio in an online dating profile is a critical part of the process.  Otherwise, how do you know you really want to get to know this person better?  If there is no bio at all, this person is either really boring or might be hiding something.  Be careful.
  • There aren’t any photos.  Another huge part of online dating is the photos.  If your online love doesn’t have any photos or the picture is out of focus and hard to see, you might want to be careful.
  • Canned responses.  If the responses or messages you’ve received seem too robotic or “canned”, go ahead and keep looking.  Lots of other people might have gotten the same communication and it could be a scam.
  • Repeated cancellations.  Things come up in life, but if a person makes plans and cancels them repeatedly, you might want to move on.

Online dating, like face-to-face dating, has its benefits and its risks.  However, it is easy to reduce these risks and make the most of your online dating experience by paying attention and staying vigilant.

Long-distance Chinese dating

Long-distance Chinese dating can seem like a scary idea for many people, especially if they are new to the online dating world.

Long Distance Relationship

The good news is that long-distance dating doesn’t have to fizzle out after the first few communications.  Here are some great tips for making a long-distance love affair last:

  • Stay connected.  One of the secrets to long-distance relationships is to increase the frequency of interacting with your partner.   This means more phone calls, more video chats, and more text messages.
  • Communicate honestly.  When you’re in a long-distance Chinese dating relationship, it might seem hard to communicate, but communication is key.  You have to put yourself out there and stay honest about how you feel.  Talk about everything, just as you would in person.
  • Build the relationship up.  If you live a great distance apart, you must take the time to nurture this relationship.  Get to know each other over time to forge a strong and powerful bond.
  • Get creative.  Keep the romance alive by being creative – surprise your faraway lover with a box of chocolates delivered to her job or send a special card.  You could even draw inspiration from the past and send a mixed tape or CD.
  • Battle the green-eyed monster.  Jealousy can rear its ugly green head when you’re in a long-distance relationship.  This often occurs simply because you’re not there.  Be open and talk about your concerns; you might find that they are completely unfounded.

No one ever said that a long-distance relationship was going to be easy, but it can be just as real, vital, and important as a local relationship.  Good luck!

Want to date Chinese girls, but are too nervous?

Have you always wanted to date Chinese girls but are painfully shy?  Don’t let your shyness ruin an opportunity for love – it’s time to get out of your head and into the moment.

Love hearts

Every shy person knows that they spend too much time worrying about the “what ifs” in social situations.  We also know that it can be hard to just let go and get into the moment, so we’ve put together a list of tips of dating techniques for extremely shy people that will work when you date Chinese girls or anyone else:

  • What are you interested in?  Remember, the more you talk about things that you are interested in and care about, the more relaxed you’ll ultimately be.  Overcoming shyness starts with being able to start a conversation.
  • Practice.  Before you go on the first date, practice a little.  You can make a video of yourself practicing small talk.  Do this often and you’ll probably feel a little less weird when it’s the real deal.
  • Try not to fidget.  If you’re nervous, chances are you’re going to be fidgeting, but try to keep this to a minimum. A good way to achieve this is by pressing your index finger and thumb together for a few moments and repeating the process; this can actually calm you as well!
  • Wear something interesting.  We’re not telling you to wear something off the wall, but go for something that can be a conversation-starter.  Wearing something that your date will notice and comment on is definitely a smooth way to break the ice.

The good news is that as you get older, shyness usually lessens, and it is perfectly normal to feel a little shy and nervous on the first date.  Just remember to be honest and try to enjoy yourself.

Single moms and Chinese dating

There is more to Chinese dating than meets the eye.  Not every woman who has submitted an online dating profile is in her twenties.  There are, in fact, plenty of single moms looking for love as well.

When you first decided that you wanted to try Chinese dating, the idea of single moms probably didn’t pop into your head.  After all, dating a single mom, especially online, can be a real challenge – especially if you don’t have kids yourself.  It really does take a special guy to want to even try.

However, we are here to tell you that single moms can be great romantic partners.  If you are open to the idea of dating a single mom, here are some tips for you:

  • Remember that she’s a mom and her kids will always come first.  Familial ties are extremely important in the Chinese culture, so you need to understand that her kids will always come first.  However, this is probably true for a mom in any culture.  Try to be as supportive and understanding as possible.
  • Don’t ask about the father of her children.  If she wants to talk about her child’s father, she will.  Do not bring this topic up, especially when the relationship is new.  She will eventually discuss her past but probably won’t until she knows that you’re truly interested in a relationship.
  • Be patient.  Many single moms aren’t as open as single women without kids.  They have built up walls to protect themselves and their children.  Show her that you are serious about the relationship and be patient, and she will eventually open up.
  • Be nice to her kids.  If you want to have a romantic relationship with this lady, be nice to her kids.  If you don’t like kids, dating a single mom probably isn’t the best idea.
